A creative mind, a heart sensitive to the needs of the less fortunate and willing hands are all
that’s necessary to brainstorm a solution and make a difference.

God has blessed the Crossroads family with the privilege of facilitating and witnessing the
flow of generous creativity between those who have been blessed with opportunity and those
who have learned to completely entrust their life to the creator of the universe.

Both groups have an amazing potential to teach one
another about God’s love for His children and therefore,
each individual’s inherent dignity.

The finished product is so dramatic and exciting that
once you start it’s impossible to imagine ever stopping.

Here are a few of the Crossroads director’s dreams for the
poor; all we need now are willing and creative hearts to
partner with us in changing lives

 Birth Control
Sex education and birth control to prevent pregnancy
and disease would greatly improve the livelihood of
those living in over-crowded, disease prone villages with
little to zero access to medical care.

 Sponsoring Families and Children
The families and children Crossroads serve struggle to put food on the table, much less buy soap
or shoes. By sponsoring a family for a year at a time you can give them food or an education and
give them a chance to escape poverty for good.

 Basic Academic Instruction
Many adults and children alike do not know how to read or write and urgently need tools to
better understand their world.

 HIV/AIDS Education and AIDS Center
Haiti holds the world title for the country most saturated by the AIDS pandemic. For Haitians in
the Dominican Republic’s sugar cane bateys AIDS and food related illness are the most common
causes of death.

 AIDS Testing and Follow-up for Pregnant Mothers
If a mother is aware she has AIDS there are many ways to prevent the disease from spreading to
her unborn child. Medications, cesarean sections and baby formula are essential preventative
measures that Crossroads does not currently have the funds or ability to administer.

 Orphanage for Abandoned Children and Widows
Unfortunately, in a poverty-stricken society, abandonment is an incredibly frequent occurrence.
Among those who are abandoned, an extreme few will escape death. Some families feel forced by
economic constraints to follow the rules of survival of the fittest by choosing to abandon
children or weak family members. Crossroads would love to open an orphanage and empower
the abandoned to take care of one another.

 A Program to seek and destroy Child Trafficking and Prostitution
The Dominican Republic is well-known around the world for its cheap sex industry.
Prostitution pervades and darkens the Dominican culture. Recently however, Crossroads also
became aware of the existence of child prostitution in the Dominican Republic. We would like to
research this area more thoroughly and find out if there is anything that can be done to stop it.

 Emergency Vehicle
The mission house located in Villa de Ascension needs an emergency vehicle to transport those in
need to a hospital and provide for other prominent needs in the Villa.

 Diarrhea Vaccine
Crossroads has recently heard about the availability of a vaccine for diarrhea. Diarrhea is a
serious problem in the poor villages and a vaccine would decrease dehydration and the resulting
death.
