Meet the Crossroads Directors
Crossroads was founded on the belief that God accepts and loves every
person, even the poorest of the poor whom others have rejected and
reduced to a sub-human status.

For the past 20 years the plight of the desperately poor Haitian refugees has deeply
affected Crossroads founder, Jana Amelingmeier.  A burden rooted within the
chambers of her soul which is lived out in her daily walk among the poor.

On an isolated part of the island on the north coast, rests the Crossroads retreat
center. This land has been dedicated to the service of the poor; welcoming groups
and volunteers from all over the world to help facilitate those desiring to serve the
desolate and downtrodden.

Each week members of the Crossroads family travel to the dumps and shanties of
the sugar cane fields to bring food, hope and dignity to people who otherwise
would not be reached. The beauty and simplicity of such ministries allows one to
participate directly with those you serve.

We invite you to take part of bringing the Kingdom here on earth, and enter in to
the joy and peace that has been promised.

“We have given you a place,  yes a privileged place, to not only walk alongside
the poor but also to put your extra baggage down, stop the rush of the world that
is always upon you, relax and breath deeply from the beautiful and tranquil
vistas of the Caribbean.  With many contemplation areas we invite you to take a
journey into your own self, pull away from best sellers, table talk,
superficiality, and enjoy a bit of the eternal world, here and now.”- Jana

Jana Amelingmeier
Founder, Executive Director

Jana has lived overseas some 40 years and started her walk
in ministry some 21 years with Haitian orphans. At six
weeks of age  her family moved to the Bahamas where she
lived for many years an isolated life among the Black
Bahamians. Her passion and zeal for the people that God
has called her to walk with is contagious.  She has set
herself to the plow and does not look back, for what is a
life, if not lived and shared with others?  With little formal
education she claims to bring nothing of worldly value
into the ministry, only her desire to find Christ in the eyes
of the poor and share these most beloved people of God
with those who venture into her midst.  All the ministries
started at Crossroads was started by the burden on her
heart to alleviate the pain of the poor. Her book, "The Road
Begins with Passion" will be available this year.

Marcus (Uncle) Beraza
Field Coordinator, Financial Consultant

About eighteen years ago, the Lord brought Marc into
the family. As we all know, there are those who are
closer to us in the Spirit of Truth than those who are
born of our blood. Marc is one of those eternal kindred
spirits that helped raise our 7 children  and is a
co-founder of Crossroads.  He graduated from Berry
College with a degree in Social Work and has lived most
of his life in the Caribbean.  He worked with the
underprivileged as a young man developing his
compassionate heart.

we serve at Crossroads.
First and foremost he is an educator and has started two private schools in the
Dominican Republic so that our children and others have the opportunity to have a
choice of universities.  He loves teaching and we all continually learn from him.

In addition to the medical ministry, he started the Bible ministry that gives free Bibles
away and started the Sunday school in Ascension village.
