Here we find the concrete basics of life happening. Crossroads provides shelter and dignity for
those that live on the underbelly of society, forced to carve out their existence in the
cardboard, palm roof and rusted zinc partitions that they call home.
Imagine your dreams abruptly interrupted by the
strong odor of coals heating breakfast next to where
you are sleeping. The few rags you have scattered on
the ground to serve as your bed hardly protect you
from the wet, muddy floor of the hut you have pieced
together with garbage. Your children have already
woken up from their place on the floor beside you and
the look on their tired, dirty faces is a daily reminder of
how badly they need a real home...

All first world animals live by better standards, for if not, your will find
the law at your doorstep. Not so for the broken of this world, but thanks
to our sponsors, they are able to have something that few can even dream
about. A cement home, wood windows and doors that work, sidewalks
and an indoor toilet! A home, a place that when they leave this earth, a
commonly premature occurrence for the poor we serve, will be passed on
so that their children will not be forced to die in the mud of existence.
We receive the volunteers who work in the m morning in construction
and do ministries in the afternoon. This is a time of fellowship with the
people and a great experience that all will remember their whole life.
This ministry was started, like all of the ones, with the desire of one’s heart to upgrade the life of the
poor. Ever since beginning work with the Haitians, some 21 years ago, working with orphans, the
dream has grown to include the village of Ascension and the multitude of outreaches.
When my mother passed over she left me a bit of money that I used to purchase the land to build
Villa de Accession, a place that would allow hundreds to own homes for the first time. I then began
to beg Ellio Madona out of retirement to partner in with Crossroads and join in this walk of faith.
completed by Crossroads volunteer groups as well as a permanent construction team. We at
Crossroads are in charge of the building of community which includes the numerous ministries on
this web page.
Most volunteer groups that come down contribute $3,000 U.S. to provide a home for those that
receive the title and a future for themselves and family. There is such a deep satisfaction when
helping to build homes and being able to see those under the wheel of repression moved out of their
meager existence carved out of materials that can not withstand the wind and rain, let alone the
mud floors that carry parasites and disease.
We are so utterly blessed for all of the money that has been given us to make our dream for the poor
a reality. Without our sponsors and their yoked walk of faith, the silence and sorrow of the poor
would continue unnoticed.

Mr. Madonia is an extremely energetic young man
of 77 who has built some 600 homes. He has a heart
after Christ and a heart for the poor. With such a
combination one can never go wrong, and that is
clearly evident in the fruits of Madonia’s labors. We
strongly encourage you to take the opportunity to
engage in some great conversation with this
brilliant man of God!
