Medical Ministry

Offering basic medical assistance to those who could never imagine
the possibility of a trip to the doctor’s, much less money to buy
aspirin, is a natural desire of volunteers upon arrival at Crossroads.
For, lets face it, we are here to heal the world, make a difference and
go home feeling worthy and good about ourselves. And, all that is
true.

But there is more. There is the priceless dignity that our volunteers
reestablish in the hearts of the poor when they sit down with them
and are simply present to their multitude of problems. Some medical,
all put upon them to due the conditions of a world that does not care.
Their needs are met through a soft touch on a sore back, a gentle prayer in our heart, some medicine that
may heal, with God’s grace, we can give dignity and healing.
The importance of this ministry is instantly
obvious to the volunteer teams as they pull
into the small villages and witness children’s
torn clothing, dehydrated bodies and swollen
stomachs. Truly, we need the support of
doctors and nurses alongside the financial
support and medicines that are so graciously
given.
We come, with our professionals, limping with our own
brokenessness into the groves of people that need something to
give them hope that all is not lost, that today is different, that
tomorrow will be better. Yes, we arrive, to hold a hand, touch
an aching brow, raise up the dead that have lost all and whose
eyes no longer shine. We arrive, all of us in need of healing to
touch the modern day leapers with our bits and scraps of love,
in the form of medicine, but mostly importantly through the
concern of our hearts and time.

Thanking you for helping us, in whatever form you can offer.
Thank you for going with us to the regions of the world where
no one chooses to go, and finding that the regions you have
stepped into are the very regions of your own soul that needed
healing.
